More than 70 years ago, Joseph Pilates developed a revolutionary exercise and rehabilitation program that has been the inspiration for the body-conditioning method offered by Studio du Corps. This unique exercise regime strengthens and tones muscles, increases flexibility, develops proper alignment and improves coordination. Students will complete workouts feeling energized yet relaxed, with an increased sense of body awareness. As the spine becomes elongated and the abdominals create a strong "center", posture improves and injuries may be prevented. Proper breathing techniques are emphasized with the focus being on exercising the mind as well as the body. A wide variety of non-impact exercises, challenging to all fitness levels, are performed on mats as well as on equipment originally designed by Joseph Pilates. |
